tachometers
Engine speed indicators
Tachometers is the plural of tachometer, an instrument that measures rotational speed, typically in revolutions per minute (RPM).
The most familiar tachometer is the dashboard gauge showing engine speed in a vehicle: The tachometers in racing cars help drivers know when to shift.
Tachometers also appear in industrial settings to monitor motors, turbines, and other rotating machinery.
