clocking

Recording the time

Clocking is the present participle of clock, covering all its verb senses.

You clock your hours at work, or clock a fast time in a race.

In British slang, to clock someone is to notice or spot them: I clocked him across the room immediately.

In trans and drag communities, clocking means recognizing someone as transgender or in drag, often when they're trying to pass: She was worried about getting clocked at the interview.
