swipe

Slide to unlock

Swipe is a sweeping motion—to strike or move with a broad, quick stroke.

You might swipe at a fly or take a swipe at an opponent, literally or figuratively.

To swipe something is also to steal it: Someone swiped my phone.

On touchscreens, swiping means dragging a finger across the surface to navigate: swipe right on a dating app to indicate interest, swipe left to pass.

To swipe a card is to run it through a reader.
