clock in
Begin work officially
Clock in means to record your arrival at work, originally by inserting a time card into a mechanical clock.
The phrase extends to any method of marking when you start: I clocked in at 8:15.
It also means to register a particular time or measurement: She clocked in at just under two hours for the half marathon.
The opposite is clock out.
