signing off

Final words broadcast

Signing off is concluding a communication or broadcast.

Radio operators sign off at the end of transmissions; television stations sign off at the end of the broadcast day.

In everyday use, it marks ending a conversation or workday: I'm signing off for the night.

To sign off on something is to give formal approval: The director signed off on the budget.
