voguing

Striking dramatic poses

Voguing is a stylized form of dance originating in Black and Latino gay ballroom culture, characterized by angular poses, dramatic arm movements, and model-like runway walks that mimic fashion magazine poses.

Performers "strike a pose" in competitive battles called balls: She was voguing on the dance floor.

The style gained mainstream visibility through Madonna's 1990 song "Vogue."
