overlooking

Failing to notice

Overlooking works in two directions.

To overlook something is to fail to notice it or to choose not to address it: I overlooked the typo, We'll overlook your tardiness this once.

But overlooking also means looking down upon from above: a balcony overlooking the garden, rooms overlooking the bay.

Context usually makes the sense clear.
