clevis pin

Hitch attachment hardware

A clevis pin is a cylindrical metal fastener with a hole drilled through one end for a cotter pin or clip.

It passes through the aligned holes of a clevis (a U-shaped bracket) and whatever it's attaching, securing the connection while still allowing rotation: The clevis pin on the tractor's drawbar had sheared off.
