mower

Yard blade machine

A mower is a machine or person that cuts grass or grain.

Most often it refers to a lawn mower—the motorized device homeowners push or ride across yards: I need to get the mower out before the grass gets any taller.

Agricultural mowers cut hay or other crops.

The word also applies to anyone doing the mowing: The mowers start at dawn.
