quick release
Fast-detach mechanism type
Quick release describes a mechanism designed for fast, tool-free detachment.
A quick-release skewer lets cyclists remove wheels without wrenches.
Quick-release buckles on backpacks allow instant strap adjustment.
The term applies to any fastener engineered to be opened rapidly—camera mounts, dog leashes, parachute harnesses: The quick-release mechanism saved his life when the boat capsized.
