bathhouse
Communal washing facility
A bathhouse is a building with facilities for bathing, historically a public amenity where people could wash when private bathrooms were rare.
The term also refers to establishments offering steam rooms, saunas, and sometimes massage.
In gay culture, bathhouses are venues for casual sexual encounters between men: The city's last bathhouse closed in the 1980s during the AIDS crisis.
