saloon
Frontier drinking establishment
A saloon is a place where alcoholic drinks are served, particularly in the American Old West, where saloons were gathering spots for cowboys, miners, and travelers.
The term survives today mainly in historical contexts or themed establishments.
In British English, saloon has additional meanings: a saloon car is a sedan automobile, and a saloon bar is an upscale section of a pub.
A saloon may also refer to a large room for passengers on a ship or a spacious room for receptions.
