blacklist

Names to exclude

A blacklist is a list of people, organizations, or things to be excluded, avoided, or punished.

During the McCarthy era, Hollywood maintained a blacklist of suspected communists who couldn't find work.

The verb means to place on such a list: The company was blacklisted after the scandal.
