Permitted entries only
A whitelist is a list of entities granted access or approval—the opposite of a blacklist.
Email whitelists allow messages from specified senders to bypass spam filters.
Security systems whitelist approved applications or IP addresses.
As a verb, to whitelist is to add something to such a list: You'll need to whitelist our domain to receive notifications.
Some organizations now prefer "allowlist" to avoid the black/white connotation.
