action
Doing, not waiting
Action is a general verbal noun related to act.
It is usually more about the doing than the thing done (for which we use the noun act).
Action is often associated with movement, since the perception of movement is often our best clue that someone has acted.
When action is used before a noun, this association with movement is strongest (action figure, action sequence).
The verb action is relatively new, can be considered jargon, and means cause to be acted upon.
