action star
Film combat celebrity
An action star is a movie actor known primarily for roles in action films—genres featuring fights, chases, explosions, and physical stunts.
The term implies both box-office success and a persona built around physicality rather than dramatic range: Arnold Schwarzenegger was the biggest action star of the 1980s.
Some action stars perform their own stunts; others rely heavily on doubles and editing.
