respawn

Return after death

To respawn is to reappear in a video game after your character has died, returning to play at a designated location: I'll respawn at the checkpoint.

The term extends to the locations themselves: Wait for me at the respawn point.

Outside gaming, respawn describes anything that regenerates or reappears after being eliminated: The weeds respawn faster than I can pull them.
