Zionist

Jewish homeland supporter

A Zionist is a supporter of Zionism—the movement that established and maintains a Jewish national homeland in Israel.

The term describes both historical advocates who worked toward Israel's founding and contemporary supporters of the state: Zionist organizations, a lifelong Zionist.

It appears neutrally in political discourse but is also used as an accusation by critics of Israeli policy, sometimes as a stand-in for Jewish in antisemitic contexts. (Lowercase zionist is a less common variant.)
