leftist
Liberal-leaning political figure
A leftist is someone whose political views fall on the left side of the spectrum—favoring social equality, government intervention in the economy, and progressive reform.
The term ranges from mild (center-left liberals) to strong (socialists, communists).
As an adjective, it describes such politics: leftist policies, a leftist newspaper.
Often used dismissively by opponents: the leftist media.
