Xi'an

Ancient Chinese capital

Xi'an is a major city in central China, capital of Shaanxi province.

It served as the imperial capital for multiple dynasties and marks the eastern terminus of the ancient Silk Road.

The city is famous for the Terracotta Army, thousands of life-sized clay soldiers buried with the first emperor of China: We visited Xi'an to see the terracotta warriors. (Lowercase xian is informal slang for Christian.)
