Carcassonne
Medieval fortress town
Carcassonne is a fortified medieval city in southern France, famous for its restored double-walled ramparts and towers.
The name also refers to a popular tile-laying board game where players build a landscape of cities, roads, and fields: We played Carcassonne after dinner.
In the game, players place followers called meeples to score points.
