Buddha

Nirvana's first finder

Buddha refers to Siddhartha Gautama, the Indian spiritual teacher who founded Buddhism in the 5th or 6th century BCE.

The title means "awakened one" in Sanskrit.

Images of the Buddha—seated in meditation, often rotund and serene—are ubiquitous in Asian art and Western décor.

The term also applies to anyone who has attained enlightenment in Buddhist philosophy: She meditated daily, hoping to become a buddha herself. (Lowercase buddha emphasizes the general concept of an enlightened being.)
