Quranic teaching institution
A madrasa is an Islamic school, traditionally focused on religious instruction including Quranic study, Islamic law, and Arabic.
The term covers institutions ranging from elementary religious education to advanced theological seminaries.
In Western media, madrasa sometimes carries connotations of extremism, though most are conventional schools: He attended a madrasa as a child.
