marauders
Roving violent thieves
Marauders are people who roam in search of things to steal or destroy—raiders, looters, pillagers.
The word suggests bands rather than individuals, and violence rather than stealth: Marauders swept through the village, taking whatever they could carry.
Unlike burglars, marauders operate openly and aggressively.
