Akbar the Great
Tolerant Mughal ruler
Akbar the Great was the third Mughal emperor of India, ruling from 1556 to 1605.
He expanded the empire to encompass most of the Indian subcontinent and is remembered for religious tolerance, administrative reforms, and patronage of arts and culture.
His name means "great" in Arabic, making "Akbar the Great" somewhat redundant: Akbar the Great united diverse peoples under Mughal rule.
