Türkiye

Bridges two continents

Türkiye is the Turkish-language name for the country historically called Turkey in English.

In 2022, the Turkish government requested international recognition of this spelling, and it has since appeared in diplomatic contexts and news coverage: The earthquake struck southern Türkiye.

English speakers vary in adoption—some use it consistently, others retain Turkey.
