Kathmandu
Nepal's main city
Kathmandu is the capital and largest city of Nepal, situated in a valley in the Himalayan foothills at an elevation of roughly 4,600 feet.
The city serves as Nepal's cultural, economic, and political center, known for its ancient temples, stupas, and palaces that reflect centuries of Hindu and Buddhist heritage.
Kathmandu is a gateway for travelers heading to Mount Everest and other Himalayan trekking destinations.
We spent a week in Kathmandu before beginning our trek to base camp.
