Trafalgar

Spanish cape battle

Trafalgar refers to a cape on the southwestern coast of Spain, famous as the site of an 1805 naval battle where the British fleet under Admiral Nelson defeated the combined French and Spanish fleets, establishing British naval supremacy for a century.

The name appears most often in Trafalgar Square, the central London plaza commemorating the victory: We met at Trafalgar Square by the lion statues.
