SMTP
Mail transfer standard
SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol, the standard method for sending email across the internet.
When you send an email, your mail client uses SMTP to transmit the message to a server, which then relays it toward the recipient's server.
SMTP handles outgoing mail; separate protocols like IMAP or POP retrieve incoming messages.
