ROM

Write-once chip type

ROM stands for read-only memory, a type of computer storage that retains data permanently and cannot be easily modified.

Unlike RAM, ROM keeps its contents when power is off, making it ideal for firmware and system instructions that rarely change.

The game cartridge contained the program on a ROM chip. (Lowercase rom refers to the Romani people.)
