TLS

Secure connection standard

TLS stands for Transport Layer Security, the cryptographic protocol that secures internet communications.

When you see a padlock icon in your browser or "https" in a URL, TLS is encrypting the connection between your device and the server.

TLS replaced the older SSL protocol, though people often still say "SSL" loosely to mean either.
