backscatter
Signal bouncing back
Backscatter is radiation or particles that bounce back toward their source after striking a surface or medium.
In airport security, backscatter X-ray scanners detect objects hidden under clothing by measuring reflected radiation.
The term extends to unwanted email bounced back to forged sender addresses: My inbox filled with backscatter from a spam campaign using my domain.
