RFC
Internet standards proposal
RFC stands for Request for Comments, the system of technical documents that define internet standards and protocols.
Originally informal proposals inviting feedback, RFCs now carry authoritative weight: RFC 822 defined email format.
In casual tech usage, RFC can mean any proposal open for discussion: I'm putting out an RFC on our new API design.
