DNA replication
Chromosome copying process
DNA replication is the biological process by which a cell copies its genetic material before dividing, producing two identical DNA molecules from one original.
Each strand of the double helix serves as a template for a new complementary strand.
Errors in replication can cause mutations.
DNA replication occurs during the S phase of the cell cycle.
