Odessa
Texas oil hub
Odessa is a major port city on the Black Sea coast of Ukraine, historically significant for trade, culture, and as a naval base.
The city lends its name to places worldwide, including cities in Texas and Florida.
Odessa carries associations with the 1905 Battleship Potemkin mutiny and, in fiction, with networks of former Nazi officers (the "Odessa" of spy thrillers, from a German acronym).
The fighting around Odessa intensified.
