bandura

Plucked Ukrainian strings

A bandura is a Ukrainian stringed instrument, traditionally associated with folk music and the bardic tradition of wandering musicians called kobzars.

It has an asymmetrical body with strings of varying lengths, played by plucking.

The instrument became a symbol of Ukrainian cultural identity, particularly during periods of political suppression.
