Amarillo
Texas cattle country
Amarillo is a city in the Texas Panhandle, known for cattle ranching, oil, and its position along historic Route 66.
The name comes from the Spanish word for yellow, possibly referring to the yellow wildflowers or soil of the area: We stopped in Amarillo on our way to New Mexico. (Lowercase amarillo is the Spanish word for yellow.)
