Galicia

Spain's Celtic corner

Galicia names two distinct regions.

One is an autonomous community in northwestern Spain, known for its Celtic heritage, seafood, and the pilgrimage destination Santiago de Compostela.

The other was a historical region of Central Europe, now divided between southeastern Poland and western Ukraine, once part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Context usually makes clear which is meant.
