Liberty Bell
Philadelphia's fractured symbol
The Liberty Bell is a large bronze bell in Philadelphia, iconic symbol of American independence.
It hung in the Pennsylvania State House (now Independence Hall) and was rung to mark the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
The bell is famous for its prominent crack, which eventually silenced it.
We visited the Liberty Bell on our trip to Philadelphia.
