Soviet flag
USSR's national standard
The Soviet flag was the red banner of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics from 1922 to 1991, featuring a gold hammer and sickle beneath a gold-bordered red star.
The hammer represented industrial workers, the sickle agricultural peasants, and the star the Communist Party.
The flag remains a symbol of communist ideology, Soviet nostalgia, or leftist politics depending on context.
