Kindertransport

Prewar Jewish rescue

Kindertransport was the organized rescue effort that brought nearly 10,000 Jewish children from Nazi-controlled territories to Britain between 1938 and 1940.

The German term means "children's transport." The children, mostly unaccompanied, were placed with foster families or hostels; many never saw their parents again.

Her grandmother came to England on the Kindertransport.
