rickshaws

Human-powered carriages

Rickshaws are small passenger vehicles pulled by a person on foot or pedaling a bicycle.

The original rickshaw was a two-wheeled cart pulled by a runner, common in East Asia in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Modern cycle rickshaws—three-wheeled pedicabs—still operate in many Asian cities and as tourist attractions elsewhere: We took a rickshaw through the old quarter.

Auto rickshaws are motorized three-wheelers used as taxis, especially in South Asia.
