DVD drive

Optical disc reader

A DVD drive is a device that reads DVDs, the optical discs that largely replaced VHS tapes and CDs for video and data storage in the early 2000s.

Most DVD drives also play CDs.

Once standard in computers, they've become rare as streaming and digital downloads have made physical media obsolete for most users.
