RAID

Drive redundancy system

RAID is a sudden attack, especially by military forces or police moving quickly into enemy or criminal territory: The soldiers conducted a raid on the weapons depot, a dawn raid by federal agents.

Raiders take what they came for and withdraw.

By extension, a corporate raid is an attempt to acquire a company, often hostile.

To raid is to conduct such an attack, or informally, to plunder for one's own use: Who raided the refrigerator?

In computing, RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) is a system that spreads data across multiple drives for speed or protection against failure.
