jewel case
Diamond storage container
A jewel case is the standard plastic case for compact discs, with a hinged lid and slots for holding the disc and a paper insert.
The name comes from its resemblance to cases for storing jewelry.
The jewel case cracked when I dropped it.
Despite digital music's rise, the term persists for any similar CD packaging.
