Cetshwayo

Cetshwayo was the last independent king of the Zulu nation, ruling from 1873 until the British defeated his forces in the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879.

His army's victory at Isandlwana—one of Britain's worst colonial defeats—made him a symbol of African resistance to European imperialism.

Also spelled Cetewayo or Ketshwayo.
