Zulu warriors
Shaka's legendary soldiers
Zulu warriors were soldiers of the Zulu Kingdom in southern Africa, renowned for their disciplined military tactics and ferocity in battle.
Under King Shaka in the early 19th century, they developed innovative close-combat techniques using short stabbing spears and cowhide shields.
The term evokes images of the famous battles against British colonial forces: The Zulu warriors overwhelmed the British at Isandlwana.
