Shaka Zulu
Southern African conqueror
Shaka Zulu was the founder and first king of the Zulu Kingdom in early nineteenth-century southern Africa.
He transformed the Zulu from a minor clan into a dominant military power through innovations in warfare—notably the short stabbing spear and disciplined formations.
His name evokes military genius and ruthless ambition: He runs that company like Shaka Zulu.
Assassinated by his half-brothers in 1828.
