zombie
Reanimated dead person
A zombie is a reanimated corpse, a dead body brought back to a semblance of life.
The concept originates in Haitian folklore, where zombies were corpses raised by sorcery.
Modern usage owes more to horror films, where zombies are shambling, flesh-eating undead that spread their condition through bites.
Figuratively, a zombie is someone who moves or acts mechanically, without awareness: I was a zombie before my morning coffee.
In computing, a zombie is a compromised computer controlled remotely without its owner's knowledge, often used in coordinated attacks.
