pumpkin
Carved autumn squash
A pumpkin is a large, round, orange squash with a thick rind and pulpy interior full of seeds.
Native to North America, pumpkins are harvested in autumn and strongly associated with fall traditions, particularly Halloween jack-o'-lanterns and Thanksgiving pie.
The word is also used as a term of endearment, especially for children: Come here, pumpkin.
In informal usage, a pumpkin can describe someone unsophisticated, and pumpkin spice has become a ubiquitous autumn flavor profile.
